In Loving Memory of Jason Huffman 9/13/1983 ~ 4/8/2007 On April 8, 2007(Easter morning), I lost my son, Jason Huffman, age 23. He was the youngest of my 2 children. The week before he passed away, he came to me and told me he was tired of the way he had been living... that he had a drug problem, specifically speaking of pain pills. I asked him to please get help and let him know that I would support him all the way. On Wednesday, he started going to our local methadone clinic. For him, this was the first step, a new beginning and the only road to recovery. He was dedicated to his visits. According to his medical reports, he was dosed with liquid methadone the first day, on Wednesday April 4th. He was dosed again on Thursday the 5th and Friday the 6th. Since it was Easter weekend, he was given 3 vials of liquid methadone to take home for Sat., Sun., and Mon. Early Easter Sunday, April 8th, my precious baby-boy that loved life so much was pronounced dead. He still had 2 vials left. Jason was a friend to all who knew him and was known for his smile. He was a Red Cross volunteer during the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort. He was the most loving and caring son that a mother could ever ask for. Jason always helped anyone in need. He was my heart. This was the day my world fell apart and I'm not sure that I will ever get it back. My son trusted that this clinic was going to help him and to be quite honest with you, so did I. I did not know any of the horrible things that I know now about methadone. This KILLER, has ripped so many of our children's lives away from us before they even had a chance to live. Together, we...all of the grieving families must stand up for our lost love ones and stop this KILLER, called Methadone .
