Chris Mulheisen In Loving Memory of Liza Michelle Hoare 5/15/66 ~ 10/15/06

"Liza, my Sister and best friend, was given an RX of methadone for pain following a car accident and was dead within 36 hours. Liza was young and beautiful, but would still be alive if not for this dangerous drug."

My sister had just had a pretty bad car accident and was in a lot of pain. (we didn't know how bad of an accident, until we went to clear out her apartment after she died and saw her car totaled) She has had ruptured discs and spinal fusions over the years, so she knows back pain and has been treated with narcotics for many years, so she would not labeled as non-tolerant to Opioids. On the late afternoon of the accident, she saw her "Psychiatrist", after not being able to get into her regular Doctor, and he prescribed her methadone for the pain, plus Ativan, a benzodiazapam and the anti-depressant Lexapro. (plus 2 other's for a total of 5 rx's on that same day.) She was dead within 36 hours of methadone intoxication. She left behind a little 10 year old son, whose birthday was the day she was found dead. The poor little guy! His birthday will always be his Mom's death day now.
