Death Certificate: Methadone Toxicity.

Michael was given a lethal dose of Methadone by a young man who snuck it into the mission where Michael was staying. He didn't take Methadone and had no idea that it could kill him. Michael was mentally ill and had ADHD, bi-polar, depression, anxiety, a panic disorder, and oppositional behavioral disorder. His autopsy showed he was in perfect physical condition. He had 200 ng Coricidin and 500 ng (not sure about the name of the unit) Methadone in his blood system, more than needed to kill him. He was not suicidal. I had seen him 2 days before and he was in good spirits. He had just applied for a job at the local newspaper. He had a college degree in English. They called to tell him about the job the day he died. He had quit drinking and was doing much better - he was staying at the Holland Michigan mission.

I didn't even know what Methadone was until the detective explained it to me. I have since found out that Methadone has killed a lot of kids - that and other painkillers and heroin.
