Michael J Martin In Loving Memory of Michael J Martin 1972 ~ 2007

It was on June 24th, 2007 that this world was deprived of any future of hearing the laughter from Michael J Martin. The disbelief of losing someone at the age of 35 who was so loved and cared about so deeply is still holding strong!

We, Mike’s family were notified by the Medical Examiner of King County that my brother had passed away and that there would be an autopsy done to find the cause due to his young age and suspicion surrounding his death. He and his so called “girlfriend” had been supposedly camping at Greenwater state park when she woke at 1:00 pm that afternoon to find my brother not breathing. She then proceeded to drive him in the back of his Toyota pick up truck to the nearest hospital instead of using any of the 2 cell phones on them to call for help or flagging down the nearest person for help. She was then pulled over by the Washington State Patrol and then jumped out of the vehicle screaming for help which was way too late!

At the first look of the autopsy it was thought that he died of a heart attack and it wasn’t until 8 weeks later when the toxicology reports came back was it discovered that he had died of a lethal combination of Methadone and Tylenol PM. When this “so called girlfriend” who through out this whole ordeal proclaimed to be his wife was being held for questioning she had stated that she had shared her prescriptions on previous occasions but swears that she did not the day of his death. After 4 hours of questioning she proclaimed to the detective that if they were not going to charge her that they needed to let her go.

Once she was released from questioning, she proceeded to drive away my brother’s truck along with his wallet, keys and other personal items only to head directly to his apartment and start the process of stealing all that he had spend years accumulating. Yes, she robed him! Does this sound like someone who has any remorse for what has happened? How many times have you heard of someone passing away and then having their possessions stolen by the person who caused their death that was not guilty of committing murder?

My brother was so full of laughter and brought laughter to all that knew him. While smiles may be hard to come by these days, I know in my heart that there will come a day that we will all meet again and that justice will be served.

You are so loved and missed Mikey and may you be there to take our hands when it is our time to leave this world comes.

Michael James Martin
