Shane Player In Loving Memory of Shane Player 5/5/1980 ~ 12/17/2006

This is the story my 14 year old nephew wrote for a school project what a beautiful way to think about my son.

(Call To Adventure)

Shane Robert Player was a loving young man. He was born to Kim and Linda Player 5 May 1980. He was born with a soft and humble heart. In the summer of 2006 he was in a car with his girlfriend and her father, driving outside the town of Green River Wyoming. Ahead of them, a mad man was running from the law. He was running cars off the road and into them at speeds of up to 100 MPH. If that wasn't enough, he would also try to shot them. Shane and his friends were driving on a lonely highway, when Shane's life would change forever. The mad man spotted their car and ran right into them. THe headlight from the car smashed into Shane's face. Even though he was bleeding his first thought's were to his friends. Stumbling out of the car, Shane could hear the cocking of the gun. Stunned by the sound Shane knew to hit the ground. Bewildered, his friends just stood there. Shane pulled each one of them to the ground. As the mad man was trying to shoot them. Shane realized he had no ear. It had been torn off by the flying headlight. Shane realized he had to escape and the desert was the only place. Just then a semi-truck driver came and distracted the gunman and save there lives. Yelling at the gunman, he told the gunman to shot him. The truck driver then fell and pretended to be shot. Shane's smart mind served as amulet and got them out of the range of the gunman. The next time Shane would look back he would see sirens and lights along with a mad man being shot dead to the ground. Shane told me that the thing he thought about at the moment was sadness. He was sad that the man had to die because he was sick.

(Crossing the Threshold)

Shane then went to the hospital. He underwent surgery to put his ear back on. He also had plastic surgery to fix his broken face. He then had to undergo the healing process. He had a big gash in his face which would stick with him the rest of his short life. Shane realized that he had faced death right in the face. He was also hurt mentally never the same after what happened. Getting help from the doctors they calmed him down. He then passed this shadow realm and went back to life.

(The Test)

Ever since the accident, Shane suffered depression. The test was to heal from the emotions and heal physically. He suffered flashbacks and couldn't get things out of mind. This led Shane to depend on the painkillers. Realizing that he had a problem he checked himself into rehab program.

(The Reward)

Shane started on the drug Methadone. Tragically, the next day Shane died. Shane received the reward of peace, going to a resting place, Heaven.

(Return)

He return was advancement to His Heavenly Father and seeing his grandfather again.

What faith this kid has if only I could trust in a heavenly being like this 14 year old kid does.
